Appointment of Two New Associates

White Ink Architects are delighted to announce the promotion of Martin Ellis and Sarah McGonigle to Associate, in recognition of their professional accomplishments and significant contributions they have made to the success of the company. The new structure will give the Associates greater involvement in the management and strategic development of the practice, playing key roles in determining its’ future direction.

Claude Maguire, Director of White Ink Architects believes investment in personnel, in their training and professional development and in company culture is vital to retaining, and attracting, a high calibre of architects – “We focus heavily on continual learning and development and give people responsibility at an early stage of their career to inspire self-value, job satisfaction, encourage loyalty and promote ‘ownership’. The structures we have in place for staff development are unparalleled for a practice of our size – the results are evident in the scale of work that our clients trust us to deliver – currently ranging from £1.9m to £57m.”

In recent years the practice has expanded its client base, staff numbers and turnover significantly by increasing the size of construction projects and competing in the London market alongside more established practices, as well as delivering high profile projects locally – allowing staff to enjoy the benefits of living and working in N.Ireland with the excitement and challenge of large-scale high-profile projects.

“Our talented team has been fundamental to our success. Through their design excellence and exceptional professional service, we consistently deliver the best possible outcomes for clients. Sarah and Martin will be integral to this continued strategic growth,” continued Claude.

Martin is a Senior Architect and has been with the practice since 2014. He has a wealth of experience in residential, education, health and commercial projects and is currently working on The Denizen, a £34m 9-storey residential scheme in Central London. Martin is also White Ink’s BIM Manager and a member of the Northern Ireland BIM Steering Group.

Sarah completed her RIBA Part 1 placement year with White Ink in 2007 and returned to the practice in 2010. As Senior Architect she specialises in complex residential schemes and has just delivered two significant schemes in London – the £22m Palace View at Lambeth and Westminster Quarter, a £44m project. Sarah is currently leading Phase 2 of White Ink’s Staff Accommodation project for Queen’s University Belfast. Sarah also has particular expertise in executing Peer Reviews on prospective projects for our clients.
