Belfast Forward 2020 Conference

Áine Glackin and Joan McCoy today attended the Belfast Chamber ‘Belfast Forward 2020’ Conference which brought together Belfast’s business, community and public sector leaders to harness ideas on driving forward regeneration.

Key note speakers led panel discussions on the People, Place and Process that will help to shape a shared vision for the future of our city.

They heard from global city regeneration experts Maria Vassilakou – the first green vice mayor of Vienna and city councillor for urban development, traffic, climate protection, energy planning and citizen participation; Vishaan Chakrabarti, Founder of Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) a firm dedicated to the advancement of sustainable cities, and Robert Walsh, Manhattan College – who worked on the Economic Development Strategy of the Bloomberg Administration for NYC.

Our challenge is how we can get all the key stakeholders, government and Belfast City Council to collaborate – to ensure we plan for and realise a greener, smarter, connected, healthy, inclusive, sustainable, diverse, community focused, liveable Belfast.
