Construction News Awards 2016: Finalist – Project of the Year £10m-£50m

This 172-bed 4 star Hilton hotel, with 15 no. ‘Ted Baker styled’ luxury apartments above, is part of a mixed-use landmark development consisting of three building blocks which culminate in the 13-storey glazed tower of the Hilton hotel which faces the seafront at the most southerly part of the site.

White Ink Architects worked closely with McAleer & Rushe D&B Contractors from tender stage to develop the RIBA Stage 2+ design by Cube Architects into a scheme which was both financially viable and met the strict requirements of the hotelier as outlined in their Brand Standards.

The smooth rounded concrete balconies of the tower pay homage to the art deco and modernist buildings still prevalent in the town today, whilst the crisp white render and bright coloured panels give it a contemporary edge.
