White Ink have completed a number of new build Premier Inn hotels in partnership with McAleer & Rushe D&B Contractors for various private developer clients. These have ranged in size from 100 bedrooms at Aberdeen airport to 400 bedrooms at Heathrow airport, and contract values from £3.5m up to £16m.
Appointed from tender stage, White Ink worked closely with the Contractor to develop RIBA Stage 2+ designs by other Architects into financially viable developments in accordance with Premier Inn’s exacting Brand Standards and stringent acoustic requirements.
All projects were completed via a fast track, fixed price Design & Build contract where works included turnkey interior finishes to the Premier Inn Brand Standards and all associated landscaping and site works.
Each project threw up its own challenges: close proximity of sites to the runways at both Heathrow and Aberdeen airports and to the A4/M4 stacked carriageway at Brentford required specialist acoustic consideration and detailing within the facade; stringent planning requirements in Woking required careful attention to levels and co-ordination of M&E plant; tight site constraints at Brentford and Maidenhead required stacked accommodation and the inclusion of basement car parking.
